Kumbh Mela 2025: Railways’ preparations for the Kumbh Mela, considered the world’s largest religious gathering, have come to light. This huge religious gathering is going to be organized in Prayagraj from January 12, in which an estimated 30 crore to 50 crore devotees will gather. Indian Railways is preparing for this. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has informed that Indian Railways is ready to provide record number of trains, advanced tracks and better facilities for the devotees for Kumbh Mela 2025. According to information from the Railways, for this the Railways will operate a total of 992 special trains and Rs 933 crore will be spent for total train facilities and passenger facilities.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav took stock of the preparations regarding this in a high level meeting and while giving the final touch to all the preparations of the Railways, he has shared important information through his social media handle on X. Several different facilities will be implemented for passenger convenience works with a total cost of Rs 495 crore. Ticketing capacity has been increased manifold for passenger convenience and special attention is being given to many facilities. Such as-
1. Traveler Shelters
2. Provision of electricity, security, CCTV
3. Water supply and toilet facilities
4.Executive Lounge and Hospital Extension
5. Improvement in circulating area
6. Accommodation arrangements for on-duty staff
7. Boundary construction in railway premises
The Railway Minister has said in an Its important dates are-
- Paush Purnima: 13 January 2025
- Makar Sankranti: 14 January 2025
- Mauni Amavasya: Estimated to come on 29 January 2025 (5-6 crore devotees).
- Basant Panchami: 3 February 2025
- Maghi Purnima: 12 February 2025
- Mahashivratri: 26 February 2025

Doubling of railway tracks of Prayagraj division and surrounding places is being done at a cost of Rs 3700 crore. Special attention is being paid to this so that train facilities run smoothly during the Kumbh Mela and during the peak season of the fair.

Approval has been given to construct a road overbridge at a cost of Rs 440 crore. Many initiatives are being taken through Rs 495 crore such as road repairs, CCTV cameras will be deployed. Through this, accommodation units, waiting rooms and medical facilities will be provided to the travelers coming to Prayagraj.
