1. Identify by color
The color of pure khoya is light yellow or white. If the color of khoya is too white or bright yellow, then there may be a possibility of adulteration in it.
2. The smell will tell the truth
Pure khoya has a natural milky aroma. If khoya has any kind of stale aroma, it may be adulterated.
3. Texture check
The texture of genuine khoya is soft, whereas adulterated khoya can be hard or sticky. By rubbing it between the fingers, pure khoya will break apart, whereas adulterated khoya will feel sticky.

4. Find out by dissolving it in water
Add a little khoya in water and mix. If the khoya dissolves completely and white foam or any unusual color is seen in the water, then it may be adulterated.
5. Iodine Test
Iodine test can be done to detect adulteration of starch in khoa. Add a few drops of iodine on the sample of khoya. If khoya turns blue, it means there is adulteration of starch in it.

Take the sweet in your hand and rub it a little, if it feels sticky then do not buy it. Smell the sweet, if it looks stale then don’t buy it. If the work on the sweet comes off after removing it, then the silver work is not genuine. You can also check the quality of sweets by smelling them.
