Deepthi Jeevanji Wins Bronze Medal in Athletics: India has got its 16th medal in Paralympics 2024. Deepti Jivanji has won the bronze medal in the final of the women’s 400 meter race in the T20 category. She has targeted the medal by completing the race in 55.82 seconds. This is the first time that Deepti has participated in the Paralympic Games. Since she currently holds the world record, she was considered a strong contender to win the gold.
On one hand, India’s Deepti completed the race in 55.82 seconds. The silver medal was won by Turkey’s Asel Onder, who completed the race in 55.23 seconds. The gold medal was won by Ukraine’s Yulia Shulyar, who finished the 400 meter race in 55.16 seconds. Deepti pushed herself a lot in the last moments of the race and came very close to winning the gold, but in the last 10 meters, the Ukrainian runner increased her speed and aimed for the gold.
Deepti is the current world champion
India’s Deepti is the current world champion in the women’s 400m race T20 category in para athletics. She won the gold medal in the Para Athletics World Championship held in Kobe this year. Apart from this, she was also the gold medal winner in the Asian Para Games held in 2022. Let us also tell you that Deepti has won the third medal for India in an athletics competition of the Paralympics. Before her, Preeti Pal has won 2 bronze medals in athletics.
