Mohammed Shami Update For Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: More than a year has passed since Mohammed Shami was out of Team India. He played his last match for Team India in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, which was played on 19 November. Although Shami has returned to professional cricket through Ranji Trophy, he is yet to return to Team India.
Team India is present in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from 22nd November. The first match of the series will be played in Perth, in which Jasprit Bumrah will be seen taking charge of Team India in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Bumrah participated in the press conference before the start of the series, in which he gave an update about legendary fast bowler Mohammed Shami.
It became clear from Bumrah’s words that Shami going to Australia is almost certain. The Indian captain said that the team management is keeping a close watch on Shami keeping an eye on his comeback.
In the press conference, when asked about Mohammed Shami, Bumrah said, “Shami bhai has started playing cricket. Obviously he is an important link of the team. I am sure that the team management is keeping a close eye on him. Hopefully if everything goes well you will be able to see him here (Australia).”
Returned to cricket through Ranji Trophy
Shami played Ranji matches for Bengal between 13 and 16. Through this match, Shami returned to professional cricket after almost a year and he did wonders as soon as he returned. Shami had taken 7 wickets in his name for Bengal in the match. Shami will also be seen playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Bengal. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see when the Indian pacer enters Australia. Shami’s entry will provide good strength to Team India’s bowling lineup.
