Basit Ali expressed concern over BCCI’s double standards
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has accused BCCI of adopting a discriminatory attitude towards senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He said that BCCI has made it mandatory to play domestic cricket this year so that players remain eligible for selection in Team India.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit also said that new players like Shubhman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal have performed better, while the performance of Rohit and Virat has been disappointing. He said, “According to the rules, it was necessary to play domestic cricket for selection. Everyone followed this rule, but these two (Virat and Rohit) have been given free rein.”
Basit further suggested that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need to play domestic cricket before the upcoming Test series against Australia. He said, “Virat Kohli is not in form and should play domestic cricket before going to Australia. Rohit also needs to play as he is not getting any Test match practice.”
