Bajaj Auto: Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of the country’s leading automobile company Bajaj Auto, has once again raised the issue of tax on vehicles. Rajiv Bajaj has spoken against the 28 percent tax on bikes and scooters many times before. He said that on one hand the government is levying 5 percent tax on electric vehicles (EV). But, 28 percent tax is being levied on CNG bikes. Bajaj Auto recently launched the world’s first CNG bike Freedom 125.
28% GST has to be paid on CNG bikes too
Rajiv Bajaj said that CNG-powered vehicles are considered clean energy vehicles. Despite this, we have to pay 28 percent tax on it. Bajaj Auto has demanded tax exemption on CNG bikes. In an interview to CNBC TV 18, Rajiv Bajaj said that EV scooters are getting far ahead of bikes. Therefore, the company wants to sell one lakh CNG bikes by the festive season. Bajaj Auto is going to bring many new clean energy vehicles in the future. Rajiv Bajaj said that we will soon introduce another CNG motorcycle.
Will introduce ethanol-powered bikes and three-wheelers
Rajiv Bajaj said that Bajaj Auto is ready to introduce ethanol-powered bikes and three-wheelers next month. These will be launched in the financial year 2025. Apart from this, the company will also launch affordable and premium electric scooters in the next financial year. A new Chetak platform is also expected to arrive early next year. On the launch of the electric bike, Rajiv Bajaj said that scooters are becoming more successful than bikes in the EV segment.
Sales of Freedom CNG bike are increasing continuously
Rajiv Bajaj said that in August we will deliver about 9000 Freedom 125 CNG bikes. By January we will start selling 40 thousand CNG bikes every month. This bike has a 2 kg CNG cylinder and a 2 liter petrol tank. Its range is said to be 330 km. 2000 units of it have been sold. He said that we will also launch an e-rickshaw in the next financial year. The CEO of Bajaj Auto said that our EV business is in profit. The company has an 18 percent share in this market. The company’s Chetak Scooter competes fiercely with TVS iQube.
