Josh Hazlewood Injury: Australia has tightened its grip on the third Test being played at Gabba in Brisbane. The fourth day of the match is going on and Team India is struggling to avoid follow-on. Meanwhile, the Kangaroos have suffered a major setback. Australia’s star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood got injured on the fourth day of the match.
Australia suffered a major blow on the fourth day of the third Test against India, when fast bowler Josh Hazlewood left the field due to swelling in his calf and will now undergo a scan of his injury. 33-year-old Josh Hazlewood could bowl only one over on Tuesday, the fourth day. Then due to pain he had to leave the field.
A Cricket Australia spokesperson told the media, “Josh Hazlewood reported a calf problem during the morning warm-up. He will undergo a scan to determine the severity of his injury.” Let us tell you that Hazlewood was out of the second Test played in Adelaide due to arm strain. He had a long talk with captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith and physio Nick Jones before leaving the field at Gabba.
Fast bowler Scott Boland played in place of Hazlewood in the Pink Ball Test played in Adelaide. He also took five wickets in the match. Nevertheless, Hazlewood was brought in instead of Boland in the Gabba Test.
It is believed that Hazlewood will no longer bowl in this innings. If his injury is found serious in the scan, then Hazlewood will not be able to bowl in this test match. If seen from one point of view, this is good news for India. Hazlewood could have proved fatal in the second innings on this pitch. In such a situation, if he is not able to bowl then Australia’s bowling attack will become very weak.
