Yuzvendra Chahal Sold to Punjab Kings IPL Auction: Indian leg spin bowler Yuzvendra Chahal has been bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore. With this he has become the most expensive Indian spin bowler in the history of the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers Hyderabad also made tireless efforts to buy Chahal, but in the end Punjab won.
The base price of Yuzvendra Chahal was Rs 2 crore, on which Gujarat Titans made the first bid. Chennai Super Kings also needs a leg spin bowler in their squad, so Chennai went up to Rs 5.5 crore, but then pulled out. Gujarat too, without much hesitation, remained silent at Rs 6.75 crore. Punjab Kings had a lot of money left in their purse, so after spending crores on Arshdeep and Shreyas Iyer, they also made an expensive bid on Chahal and bought him for Rs 18 crore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad also made tireless efforts, which had made the first bid of Rs 14.75 crore to buy Chahal, but due to Punjab’s insistence, it backed out at Rs 17.75 crore. Chahal is the bowler taking the most wickets in IPL history till now. He has taken 205 wickets in his long career and is also the only bowler to take more than 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League history.
Punjab Kings have created a stir
Punjab Kings have so far bought 3 players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Their names are Arshdeep Singh, Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal. Punjab has spent Rs 62.75 crore on these 3 players. There is still Rs 47.75 crore left in Punjab’s purse. Before the auction, PBKS has already retained Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. The arrival of three high-profile players in the form of Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal in the Punjab team will make it the top team of the upcoming season.
