People who stay up late at night are at risk of type 2 diabetes
A new study conducted recently says that people who stay up late at night have a 46 percent higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than others. This study, conducted in the Netherlands, included five thousand overweight people.
These people were divided into three groups. First, those who wake up early (early chronotype), second, those who wake up at the average time (middle chronotype) and third, those who wake up late (late chronotype). Night owls are people who sleep late at night and wake up late in the morning. The problems faced by those who sleep late at night include high BMI, belly fat, fatty liver and accumulation of fat in the intestines. People with late chronotype have an increased risk of getting type 2 diabetes as compared to those with middle chronotype. The reasons behind this include increase in body fat, increase in visceral fat and fatty liver.
