Ankit Rajpoot Retirement: These days the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is being played between India and Australia. Meanwhile, 31-year-old Indian fast bowler Ankit Rajput, who plays for Uttar Pradesh, has announced his retirement from cricket. He ended his cricket career which started in 2009. Ankit played 80 first class matches in his career. Apart from this he played 6 seasons of IPL.
Ankit announced his retirement through an Instagram post. He wrote in his post, “Today, with immense gratitude and humility, I announce my retirement from Indian cricket. The journey from 2009 to 2024 has been the most wonderful period of my life. BCCI, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, Kanpur Cricket I am grateful for the opportunities provided by the association, IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants.”
Further, Ankit thanked his coach, fellow players, physio, fans and family for playing an important role in his career.
Let us tell you that Ankit could never get a chance to play for Team India in his career. He played cricket for India A, but could not reach the senior team.
Ankit Rajput’s career
Ankit played 80 First Class, 50 List A and 87 T20 matches in his career. In 137 first class innings, he took 248 wickets at an average of 29.25, with a match best of 10/97. Apart from this, Ankit took 71 wickets in 49 innings of List-A at an average of 26.94. In the remaining 87 innings of T20, Ankit took 105 wickets at an average of 21.55.
Ankit started his IPL career in 2013. He played IPL till 2020-21 season. During this period, Ankit played for Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Ankit played a total of 29 IPL matches. Bowling in 29 innings of these matches, he took 24 wickets at an average of 33.91.
