Afghanistan vs New Zealand Only Test: The only Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand was washed out due to rain. The match was cancelled without a toss due to rain. The match was scheduled to be played between 09 and 13 September at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, Greater Noida, India, but rain spoiled the whole game.
There was no rain on the first day of the match, only the ground was wet. Then the same thing happened on the second day as well. There was no rain during the match on the second day as well. However, the entire ground was wet due to heavy rain the night before. The same thing continued on the third day as well. Then on the fourth day, light rain knocked at the match time. In this way, four days of the match were cancelled without a toss. Then on the fifth day too, rain did not allow the match to start and finally the only Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand had to be cancelled without a toss.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board shared the information about the cancellation of the match through social media. The board wrote on the post, “Due to continuous rain in Greater Noida, the much-awaited Afghanistan vs New Zealand Test match was cancelled without a single ball being bowled.”
It further read, “The first Test match between Afghanistan vs New Zealand did not go as expected. Afghanistan looks forward to more bilateral cricket against New Zealand in the future.”
Now against whom will both the teams play the series
After the cancellation of the test match, the Afghanistan team will now play a 3-match ODI series against South Africa in the UAE, while the New Zealand team will tour Sri Lanka for a 2-match Test series. The ODI series between Afghanistan and South Africa will start from September 18. The last match of the series will be played on September 22. Apart from this, the two-match Test series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be held from September 18 to 30.
