Abhishek Sharma Times Shield Tournament: Abhishek Sharma had recently created history by scoring a century in 28 balls. Now he has once again come into the news due to his stormy innings. Earlier he had scored a century in a flamboyant manner in the T20 match, but this time he defeated the opposition bowlers by batting like T20 in the Test match. These days the Times Shield tournament is being played, in which while playing for Punjab, he has played a brilliant inning of 60 runs in 22 balls.
The Times Shield tournament is played with the red ball, but Abhishek Sharma hit fours and sixes all around the field with great ease. He spared neither the fast bowlers nor the spinners. While being a part of the Indian team, he was not able to score much runs in the T20 series against Bangladesh and South Africa. But in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he did not give up his stormy style and scored a century in 28 balls while playing for Punjab.
Preparation for IPL 2025
Abhishek Sharma was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 14 crore before the IPL 2025 mega auction. He also deserved to be retained because in IPL 2024, he had scored 484 runs in 14 matches for SRH, which included three half-centuries. Abhishek has been very active in domestic cricket. First the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, now he is wreaking havoc in the Times Shield tournament. Let us tell you that Vijay Hazare Trophy is yet to be held and almost half of the Ranji season is still left.
There is little hope as to whether he will get another chance in Team India or not because despite getting consecutive opportunities, he was not able to score runs. But continuous good performance in domestic T20 matches can get him entry in the Indian squad again.
