India Squad Champions Trophy 2025: The hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025 has been approved, but the schedule has not been announced yet. It has definitely been decided that India will play all its matches in Dubai, while all other matches will be played in Pakistan. Recently England has announced its squad for the Champions Trophy, but in the meantime all eyes will be on the Indian team too. Since the tournament is being played in the sub-continent, Team India will have to prepare a good combination of spin and fast bowling especially in bowling.
India’s probable squad for Champions Trophy
Since the Champions Trophy will be played in ODI format, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill can handle the responsibility of opening. Rohit is close to completing 11 thousand runs in his career, on the other hand, Gill’s average in ODI cricket is 58.20. If Team India needs a backup opening batsman, then KL Rahul can be seen as an option.
If we look at the middle order, Virat Kohli will bat at number three. Rishabh Pant can come at number four, but there are still question marks over the fifth position. Let us remind you that this year Shreyas Iyer returned to Team India against Sri Lanka, where he was also seen playing at number 5. Recently, he has scored 345 runs in 9 matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, while in the very first match of Vijay Hazare Trophy, he created a sensation by playing an unbeaten inning of 114 runs.
Hardik Pandya will be the first option for fast bowling all-rounder, while Ravindra Jadeja’s place in the team as a spin all-rounder seems almost certain. If we look at the bowling department, apart from Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav can also be given a place in the squad, but the management will have to prepare the playing eleven combination as per the situation.
The Indian team will hope that Mohammed Shami will be completely fit by the Champions Trophy. Shami was the highest wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup. He took 24 wickets in just 7 matches. Along with him, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Harshit Rana can also be selected in fast bowling.
India’s probable squad for Champions Trophy: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
