India Mobile Congress IMC 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, on October 15, inaugurated the 2024 India Mobile Congress, which is being organized at the India Pavilion located at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, the capital of India. This is the eighth edition of India Mobile Congress, in which many tech start-up companies from across the world including India will showcase their unique and innovative technologies. This program will be organized from 15th October i.e. from today till 18th October. It has been started by PM Modi today at 10 am. More than 190 countries from around the world are participating in this tech event of India.
What will be special in this event?
It is expected to get updates on 6G technology developing in India. The theme of the event is ‘The Future is Now’ and will include announcements by telcos related to 5G use cases as well as cloud and edge computing, IoT, semiconductors, cybersecurity, green tech, satcom, and electronics manufacturing. Today PM Modi will also inaugurate the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024, which is being organized for the first time by the International Telecommunication Union in India and the Asia-Pacific region.
India’s Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while delivering the inaugural address at the event, said, “Last year, India hosted the G20 Summit. Similarly, we have the honor of hosting the WTSA Assembly, which is being held in India for the first time. “where we will especially celebrate the power of telecommunications and global frameworks and standards. We have 3,200 delegates from more than 160 countries, the most in the history of any WTSA Assembly.”
Praising PM Modi, the Union Minister of India further said, “One of the most brilliant examples of the power of telecom is the DBT i.e. Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme, which makes direct cash transfer of more than 10 million people daily in their bank accounts.” He further said, “In the field of telecom, we are rapidly closing the gap between those who have resources and those who do not.”
