Yuvraj Singh Picks Best Cricketer Virat Kohli or Joe Root: Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan are often seen discussing the Club Periyar Fire podcast. On the recent edition of this podcast, legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was the guest. During this discussion, Yuvraj was asked a very complex question that who is better between Virat Kohli and Joe Root. Both Kohli and Root have scored thousands of runs in international cricket, but Yuvraj has given a unique answer.
Yuvraj Singh said, “If you are asking on the basis of form, then I will name Joe Root, but I will also see where and in which country he is playing. If Root is playing in England, then I will definitely include him in my World XI. In other places, I will choose Virat Kohli. Root is unstoppable in Test cricket and is scoring runs against every team. He is good in Test matches, but I consider Virat Kohli the best in every kind of cricket.”
Virat Kohli vs Joe Root: Who has better stats?
Virat Kohli made his international debut in 2008, while Joe Root made his international debut in 2012. If we talk about the total runs in all three formats, Virat Kohli is far ahead of Root. Kohli has so far scored a total of 26,965 runs in all three formats, on the other hand, Joe Root has 19,817 runs to his name. If we talk about total centuries, Kohli has touched the figure of 80 centuries and Joe Root has been able to score only 50 centuries so far.
Joe Root’s statistics in Test cricket are definitely better than Kohli. Virat Kohli currently has 8,871 runs in Test matches, but Joe Root has crossed the 12,000 run mark. It is also expected that Root can surpass Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the most runs in Test cricket.
