Jasprit Bumrah And Babar Azam: Jasprit Bumrah is on rest these days. He played his last match for Team India in the final of T20 World Cup 2024. Since then he has not been made a part of Team India for any series. Bumrah recently gave a statement, due to which he came into discussions and now former Pakistan player Basit Ali has advised Bumrah on that statement and said that he should not have hobbies like Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
Actually, Bumrah had recently talked about captaincy. The Indian pacer had told how fast bowlers have been successful captains in the cricket world and have done wonders for their respective teams. On this statement of Bumrah, Basit Ali said that he should not be fond of captaincy like Babar Azam. However, Basit Ali also predicted that Bumrah could become the captain of Team India next year.
Advice given to Bumrah
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said, “I look at Bumrah’s statement in the same way as Babar Azam is fond of captaincy. Bumrah should not be fond of captaincy. He should focus on the level of bowler he is. Bumrah mentioned Kapil Dev and Wasim Akram. Kapil Dev and Wasim Akram succeeded in captaincy after becoming all-rounders. When they came to the team as bowlers, they did not become captains. There is a lot of difference between an all-rounder and a bowler. Very few fast bowlers are good captains or coaches. My best wishes to Bumrah. Maybe he will become captain after the Champions Trophy 2025.”
What did Bumrah say?
Bumrah talked about captaincy while talking to Indian Express. The Indian pacer said, “Bowlers have to work hard. A bowler does not have to hide behind the bat or a flat wicket. A bowler is always on target. When we lose a match, the bowlers are blamed. So it is a difficult job. We saw Pat Cummins performing well. When I was young, I saw Wasim Akram and Waqar Younus as captains. Kapil Dev won us the World Cup. Imran Khan won the World Cup for Pakistan. Bowlers are intelligent.”
