IND vs SL 1st ODI: The first ODI match between India and Sri Lanka has ended in a tie. Team India was given a great start by captain Rohit Sharma, who scored 58 runs in 47 balls even on a difficult pitch and hit 7 fours and 3 sixes during this. At one time India had scored 75 runs without losing a wicket, but after that the team was seen struggling for a big partnership. KL Rahul and Axar Patel’s 57-run partnership played a very important role in India’s comeback in the match. At the end, Shivam Dubey played a cameo innings of 25 runs, but could not take the team to victory.
Sri Lanka scored 230 runs while playing first, in which the biggest contribution was of Dunith Vellalaage who played an unbeaten innings of 67 runs in 65 balls. Apart from him, Pathum Nissanka scored 56 runs in 75 balls. Even after half the team returned to the pavilion at 101 runs, Sri Lanka was successful in reaching 230 runs. On the other hand, when Team India came out to chase the target, captain Rohit Sharma started batting aggressively from the very beginning. As long as Rohit was at the crease, the team’s run rate was above 6, but the ‘Hitman’ was out in the 13th over after scoring 58 runs in 47 balls. Just 5 runs after him, Shubman Gill also got out after scoring 16 runs.
These batsmen failed
Washington Sundar was sent to bat at number four, who was dismissed after scoring only 5 runs. Virat Kohli also came on the field to play an ODI match after about 9 months, but could score only 24 runs. After Gautam Gambhir became the head coach, Shreyas Iyer has returned to the team and he had a chance to play a big innings and secure his place in the team, but his bat could only score 23 runs.
KL Rahul and Axar Patel partnership did not work
The Indian team had lost 5 wickets for 132 runs at one point and still had to score 99 runs to win. From here, a half-century but very important partnership took place between KL Rahul and Akshar Patel. On one hand, KL Rahul scored 31 runs in 43 balls, while Akshar Patel once again impressed everyone with his batting skills by scoring 33 runs in 57 balls. Rahul and Akshar together added 57 runs. But this partnership could not help Team India, because the match was tied.
Charith Aslanka turned the match around
After 47 overs, the Indian team had scored 226 runs after losing 8 wickets and they had to score just 5 runs to win. In the 48th over, Sri Lankan captain Charith Aslanka came to bowl. No runs were scored in the first 2 balls of the over, but a four was scored on the third ball. In such a situation, India had to score just one run to win in 15 balls. On the very next ball after hitting a four, Dubey was out on a score of 25 runs. India had to score 1 run, but only one wicket was left in hand. On the very next ball, Aslanka also dismissed Arshdeep Singh. With this, the match has been tied.
