Zakir Hussain: ABP News spoke to Khurshid Auliya, elder sister of Zaheer Hussain, who lives in London. Khurshid Auliya termed the news of brother Zakir Hussain’s death as wrong.
Khurshid said that his daughter is currently in the hospital in San Francisco and some time ago his daughter told him that Zakir Hussain is alive and all the reports of his death are wrong.
Sister told that the condition is critical
Khurshid told ABP News that his condition is critical, but he is alive. Expressing her displeasure, Zakir Hussain’s sister said that on whose behalf are those spreading the news of his death confirming his death and why are they doing so while the family members have not yet issued any such statement.
Khurshid said that due to her brother being ill, she had to go to America but due to some reason she could not go and had to send her daughter there. Khurshid said that due to excessive work, running around, fatigue, lack of rest and not paying attention to diet, Zakir’s heart and liver have been adversely affected.
Khurshid appealed to the people and media not to spread news of his death in this manner.
Who is Zakir Hussain?
Zakir Hussain is the son of famous tabla player Allah Rakha Khan. Zakir Hussain started learning tabla at the age of 7 and at the age of 12, he started performing while traveling across the country.

The Government of India has honored Zakir Hussain with the highest awards like Padma Shri in 1988, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in the year 2023. Zakir Hussain has also been awarded the highest honor of music ‘Sangeet Natak Akademi Award’ in 1990. Ustad Zakir Hussain was nominated for the Grammy Award 7 times in his career, out of which he won the award four times.
