YouTube TV Plan Price Hiked: If you are a subscriber of YouTube TV then you will have to shell out some money. Actually, the company has decided to make the streaming service expensive, due to which your monthly bill will increase. On Thursday, YouTube said that it is going to reduce the base plan of its streaming service to 10 dollars (about Rs 850). The company has cited increasing cost of content and other investments as the reason behind this. After this the company’s plans will become expensive. From next month i.e. January, the price of the company’s plan will be $82.99 (approximately Rs 7,042). This will be applicable to existing subscribers as well as new sign-up customers. However, this will not affect those subscribers who are watching YouTube TV on a particular promotional plan.
What did the company say in its statement?
The company said that it has taken this decision after careful consideration and knows that it will impact its customers. Let us tell you that the company has increased the price of this plan several times in the last years. In 2017, it was started at the rate of $35 (Rs 2,970) per month. In 2019, its price increased to $50 (Rs 4,242). Since then its price has been continuously increasing. In March last year also, Google had increased its price and then it was increased to $ 72.99 (Rs 6,194) per month.
Increasing operational cost became the reason
Till a few years ago, YouTube was adding new channels for its subscribers by increasing the price of the plan, but like last year, nothing like this has been done this time too. The company is facing many disputes regarding license, due to which the pressure on it has increased. Therefore, the reason behind this increase has been attributed to the increase in operational costs.
Services of other streaming platforms also became expensive
In the recent past, not only YouTube but also streaming platforms like Netflix, Apple TV and Disney etc. have increased the prices of their plans and have added many new things like password limits to increase their user base.
