You can become DSP by passing these exams
DSP can be made in two ways. The first way is by passing the examination of Union Public Service Commission i.e. UPSC. The youth who pass this examination and choose IPS service, have to work in the field as circle in-charge for almost a year. Although then they are called ASP instead of DSP but they are equivalent. At the same time, one can become DSP directly through the state civil services examination.
To what extent can there be promotion?
An officer who has passed the Civil Services Examination gets the next posting after DSP on the post of SP. At the same time, after a long service period, DSP gets a chance to become Additional SP, then SP and then after many years of service, an IPS officer. These officers can reach the maximum post of DIG or IG.
I get this much salary
The initial salary of Deputy SP starts from around Rs 56,100 as per 7th Pay Commission. Adding other allowances, the monthly salary can range from Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,10,000. Salary increases with experience and promotion.
