Yogeshwar Dutt on Vinesh Phogat joining Congress: The issue of Vinesh Phogat being disqualified from Paris Olympics 2024 is not too old yet. After the disqualification, she was not given any medal and Vinesh shocked the whole of India by getting emotional and announcing her retirement from the sport of wrestling. After returning to India, she has joined the Congress just before the Haryana assembly elections. Now Yogeshwar Dutt, who was a bronze medalist in the 2012 London Olympics, has reacted sharply on Vinesh’s issue.
The country’s image was tarnished
Yogeshwar Dutt reacted sharply in an interview to a media channel and said, “It is Vinesh’s personal decision whether she wants to join politics or not, but the country should know the truth. Whatever has happened in the country in the last one year, be it the matter of disqualification from the Olympics or the protest. When the new Parliament building was about to be inaugurated, an attempt was made to present the country’s image in a wrong way to the world.”
Vinesh should have apologized
Yogeshwar Dutt did not even spare Vinesh Phogat because according to him, she should have apologised to the entire nation for not being able to control her weight. He said, “After getting disqualified from the Olympics, Vinesh should have apologised to the entire nation saying that she had made a mistake. Instead, she called it a conspiracy and even blamed the country’s Prime Minister. Everyone knows what the rules are, whether the difference is of 1 gram or 100 grams. As per the rules, she will be disqualified.”
The former Olympic medal winner also said that a wrong atmosphere was created in the country with the help of Olympics. He also said that people were gathered during the protest. After the disqualification, an atmosphere was created that something wrong had happened to Vinesh. Yogeshwar said, “If I had been disqualified in place of Vinesh, I would have apologized to the whole country.”
