WTC Points Table Update: After India’s victory over Bangladesh in the Kanpur Test, the equations in the race for the World Test Championship final seem to have changed. India has defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the two-test series. After being affected by rain for almost 3 days, India showed aggressive play and won the second test match by 7 wickets. The good thing for Team India is that it has taken a good lead over Australia, who is at second place in the table.
WTC Points Table
The World Test Championship table is prepared on the basis of percentage of points. India is currently ranked first with a percentage of 74.24. Bangladesh’s clean sweep has increased the hope that Team India is going to play its third consecutive final. In second place is Australia, whose points percentage is 62.50 and in third place is Sri Lanka, which has recently defeated New Zealand 2-0 in the Test series. Sri Lanka’s percentage is 55.56.
Final clash among 3 teams
To understand clearly, at present there is a final competition between India, Australia and Sri Lanka. South Africa can also join this race, which has to play Test series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and then Pakistan in the next months. If the African team wins all these matches then its points percentage will go beyond 70. But even if many matches are drawn, South Africa may have to suffer the consequences. Therefore, the path to the final for Africa is not impossible but definitely difficult. In such a situation, there is a direct competition in the final between India, Australia and Sri Lanka.
India’s next matches
After defeating Bangladesh 2-0, India will now host New Zealand. The series of 3 test matches between the two countries will start from October 16. After that Team India has to tour Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Somehow the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will decide who is going to the final and who is not. This 5 test match series will start from 22nd November.
