Sri Lanka, who came to bat first, put 156/3 runs on the board in 23 overs. During this, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis played the biggest innings for the team and scored 56-56 runs. Mendis scored runs at a strike rate of 254.55 with the help of 9 fours and 1 six, while Nissanka scored runs at a strike rate of 90. During this period, Sherfane Rutherford and Roston Chase took 1 wicket each for West Indies.
West Indies got revised target
Rain intervened after Sri Lanka played 23 overs, after which West Indies got a revised target of 195 runs. Chasing the target, West Indies scored 196/2 runs on the board in 22 overs and won by 8 wickets. During this, Evin Lewis played a brilliant innings for the team and scored 102* runs in 61 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from this, Sherfane Rutherford scored 50* runs in 26 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Lewis and Rutherford made an unbroken partnership of 88* (45 balls) for the third wicket and took the team over the victory line. During this period, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka took 1 wicket each for Sri Lanka. Fernando spent 39 runs in 5 overs and Madushanka spent 50 runs in 5 overs.
