Mohammed Shami Returns: Fans are eagerly waiting for Mohammed Shami’s return. The Indian pacer is undergoing rehab these days. He played his last match for Team India on 19 November against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. After the ODI World Cup, Shami underwent ankle surgery, due to which he has not been able to return to the field yet. Now a direct answer has been received on Shami’s return. According to PTI reports, Shami can play for Bengal in Ranji Trophy before the three-match Test series against New Zealand in October. Ranji Trophy will start from 11 October. Bengal will clash against Uttar Pradesh on 11 October, in which Shami can be seen. After Ranji, Shami can be seen in one of the matches of the three-match Test series against New Zealand starting from 19 October.
Is Shami’s return confirmed in Border-Gavaskar Trophy?
BCCI secretary Jay Shah has almost confirmed Shami’s return for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be played against Australia. Speaking to the Times of India, Jay Shah said, “Our team is already well prepared. We rested Jasprit Bumrah for some time. Shami is also expected to be fit. This is an experienced Indian team now. Seniors like Rohit and Virat are fit.”
Jai Shah further said, “Your question about Shami is right. He will be there because he is experienced and we need him in Australia.”
Have experience of playing all three formats
It is worth noting that Mohammed Shami has experience of playing all three formats. He has played 64 Tests, 101 ODIs and 23 T20 International matches for Team India so far. He has taken 229 wickets in Tests. Apart from this, Shami has taken 195 wickets in ODIs and 24 wickets in T20 Internationals.
