Umpire Salary in ODI Match: In the game of cricket, it is not necessary to have a batsman, bowler and fielder. It is very important to have an umpire on the field because there is only one umpire whose word all the players are bound to obey. Umpiring in an international match is not easy because there have been many controversies on decisions ranging from wide to LBW and others. But have you ever wondered how much salary an umpire would get for an ODI match?
Salary of umpire in ODI match
To umpire an international match, umpires need to be recognized by the ICC. A top level umpire can earn between Rs 66.8 lakh and Rs 1.67 crore annually. Apart from salary, they are also provided with travel expenses, hotel accommodation and food expenses. The salary of umpires also depends on their stature in cricket and how much experience they have.
For one ODI match, an umpire gets a salary of 2500-3000 US dollars. This amount is between 2 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs rupees in Indian currency. Earlier, the salary of umpires in ODI matches was not so high, but with the intention of reducing mistakes in big and important matches, ICC has increased the salary in the last few years.
Aleem Dar and Kumar Dharmasena are among the highest paid umpires in the world. In the last few years, the world has got two world class umpires in the form of Anil Chaudhary and Nitin Menon. Both of them are included in the ICC’s Elite Panel List and last year BCCI released a list under which Anil and Nitin get Rs 40,000 per match for umpiring in domestic matches.
