India’s highest powerplay score
The Indian team is far behind in terms of scoring the highest score in the powerplay of a T20 match. In the powerplay, the Indian team scored 78 runs after losing 2 wickets against South Africa in 2018, which is its highest score in 6 overs till date. In that match, Rohit Sharma scored 31 runs in 9 balls, while Shikhar Dhawan scored 72 runs in 39 balls. Although Suresh Raina was out early, he also helped India achieve its highest powerplay score by playing a cameo innings of 15 runs in 7 balls.
Apart from this, India scored 77 runs against Sri Lanka in 2009 and 76 runs in the powerplay against New Zealand in 2007. With time, pitches have started becoming more conducive for batting, despite this, till date the Indian team has not been able to reach even 80 runs, let alone 100 runs, in the first 6 overs.
