India Domestic Cricket Player Salary: India’s population is more than 140 crores and every year lakhs of new and young cricketers emerge. But only a few of these players are able to make it to the state level and then to the Indian national cricket team. It is a well-known fact that Team India players earn crores. But the question is, can a cricketer become a millionaire by playing domestic cricket throughout his career?
This year, a report came out in which it was told that BCCI has considered increasing the salary of domestic cricketers. In the new policy, it was considered that if a player plays 10 or more matches in a Ranji season, then he can earn between Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1 crore in a season. But it is not clear yet when this policy will be implemented.
Can you become a millionaire?
According to the current salary structure of BCCI, if a player has experience of more than 40 matches in Ranji Trophy, then he gets Rs 60,000 per day. A player who plays 21-40 Ranji matches gets Rs 50,000 per day and a cricketer who takes part in 20 matches gets Rs 40,000 per day.
According to this, if a senior cricketer plays all the matches of the Ranji season and his team reaches the finals, he can earn Rs 25 lakhs in one season. In Vijay Hazare Trophy, a senior player gets Rs 50,000 for playing one match. Players can also earn a lot from other domestic tournaments. According to the current salary system, no domestic player can become a millionaire in one season, but if he plays regularly for 3-4 seasons, his total earnings can definitely go into crores.
