VRS Scheme: The merger of Air India and Vistara Airline has reached its final stage. However, due to this merger, many employees have also been affected. No work could be found for these people in the new airline. Therefore, they have been laid off. Recently, Air India launched the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS Scheme) for these employees. Now Vistara Airlines has also launched the VRS scheme for the employees to be laid off.
Along with VRS, VSS scheme was also introduced
Vistara Airlines has said in a message sent to its employees that employees who have been working with the airline for 5 years continuously can opt for this VRS scheme. Along with VRS, Vistara has also launched Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS). Employees who have been associated with the airline for less than 5 years will be a part of this scheme. Air India had launched a similar scheme for non-flying permanent staff just two weeks ago. Both airlines have clarified that this layoff will not affect the cabin crew.
Employees who are going to retire will not get the benefit
Vistara Airlines has said that those who are part of VRS and VSS will also be given the benefits of gratuity, provident fund and leave encashment as per the company’s policy. Apart from this, the amount to be received by them will be calculated as per the government rules. According to the Business Standard report, the airline has clarified that pilots, cabin crew members, any license role holder and employees retiring on March 31, 2025 will not be able to avail the benefits of these schemes.
