Virat Kohli RCB Captain: Even before the IPL 2025 mega auction, Virat Kohli has put a unique demand before the RCB management. A media report has claimed that Virat Kohli wants to captain Royal Challengers Bengaluru again. Kohli had earlier captained RCB from 2013 to 2021, but from 2022, South African legend Faf du Plessis is leading the team.
According to Times of India, it is almost certain that Kohli is going to captain the Bengaluru team next season. When Kohli left the captaincy of RCB at the end of the 2021 season, there were rumors that Kohli had left the captaincy due to the failure to win the trophy. But even after the command came into the hands of Faf du Plessis, Bengaluru has failed to win the trophy. Du Plessis has been doing well as a player, but under his captaincy the team has reached the playoffs only once.
Captaincy record of Virat Kohli?
Virat Kohli captained Royal Challengers Bangalore for the first time in 2011, but he got full captaincy in 2013. Under him, RCB played 143 matches, out of which he was successful in making the team win on 66 occasions. Under his captaincy, Bengaluru lost 70 matches and ended in a tie in 3 matches. There were also speculations that RCB was targeting Shubman Gill for the captaincy role, but according to reports, Gill has decided to remain with Gujarat Titans. It seems almost certain that Virat Kohli will be retained for IPL 2025. Apart from them, RCB can also retain Yash Dayal, Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell for the next season.
