Till now this record is in the name of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who completed 27,000 runs in 623 innings. By breaking this record of Sachin, Kohli can write a new chapter in cricket history.
Virat Kohli has so far scored 26,942 runs in 591 international innings. In the 147-year history of international cricket, only Sachin Tendulkar, Australia’s Ricky Ponting and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara have been able to touch the 27,000 run mark. Kohli will become the first cricketer in the 147-year history of cricket to score 27,000 runs in less than 600 innings.
