Vinesh Phogat in Politics: Vinesh Phogat has been the center of discussion for the last 2 weeks. Although the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has not ruled in favor of giving her the silver medal, but during this time there was a demand to give her a Rajya Sabha seat. If some reports are to be believed, the news of Vinesh entering politics may prove to be true, if not the Rajya Sabha seat.
Let us tell you that Vinesh hails from Charkhi Dadri district and assembly elections are to be held in Haryana on 1 October 2024. According to the Times of India, 29-year-old wrestler Vinesh can stake claim in the upcoming elections. It is also reported that many political parties are trying hard to include her with them.
Deepender Hooda welcomed with garlands
First, Vinesh Phogat was given a warm welcome at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. There is news of her grand welcome on returning home as well. Apart from this, the most important thing is that well-known Congress leader Deepender Hooda has welcomed her with garlands in Vinesh’s village. On the other hand, when Vinesh reached Delhi airport, Deepender Hooda was also present to welcome her. It is not clear yet on this subject that which party Vinesh will join.
If sources are to be believed, a person close to the Phogat family has not expressed any doubt about Vinesh joining politics. If this happens, then the Guru-disciple duo can clash face to face in the political arena in the form of Vinesh Phogat vs Babita Phogat and Bajrang Punia vs Yogeshwar Dutt.
Indian wrestlers have entered politics before
Vinesh is not the first name to be linked to politics. Her sister Babita Phogat joined the BJP in August 2019. She lost to Sombir Sangwan from Charkhi Dadri seat in the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections. On the other hand, 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in September 2019, but could not win. Meanwhile, there is news of Bajrang Punia also entering the field of politics soon.
