Yogi Adityanath Announces Gorakhpur Cricket Stadium: Uttar Pradesh is going to get a new international cricket stadium. State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the construction of a stadium in Gorakhpur. This stadium is an important step to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the state. The announcement regarding the stadium was made by CM Yogi during the inauguration of the first mini sports complex of Gorakhpur.
33 acres of land will be used
In a report published on India Today, it was told that a big sports center is being planned on 33 acres of land in Raptinagar area of Gorakhpur. It was reported in the report that CM Yogi emphasized the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh government to promote sports at all levels. CM said that to promote local talent, mini stadiums as well as playgrounds are being built in every village at the block and district level.
The report said that the new stadium is part of a larger initiative to improve sports facilities in the state. The Mini Sports Complex will be run under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
ODI World Cup 2023 matches were held in Lucknow
Let us tell you that the 2023 ODI World Cup matches were played in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It is worth noting that apart from Lucknow, World Cup matches were not held in any other stadium in UP. Now after the construction of the stadium in Gorakhpur, big tournament matches can be organized here also. Apart from this, series matches against many teams will also be played in the stadium to be built in Gorakhpur.
It is worth noting that in September-October (2024), Bangladesh had toured India for a series of Test and T20 matches. Two tests were played between India and Bangladesh. The second test of the series was played at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
