University of Southampton: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended the University of Southampton as one of the leading quality education centres in India.Licensed for education, research, knowledge exchange and entrepreneurship. This campus will conduct research and knowledge exchange in partnership with local universities, industries and government and use its results for social and economic impact.
Mark E. Smith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton, said that no university can be global in the 21st century unless it connects with India. We plan to establish a campus in India that will provide social and economic value by combining Southampton’s world-class activities in education, research, and knowledge exchange with India’s growing global superpower.
Prof. Andrew Atherton, Vice-President, University of Southampton, said that the University of Southampton Delhi NCR will be the first comprehensive international campus in India. It will promote academic collaboration and add an international dimension to the Indian higher education system.

The new campus will become a centre for world-class education
This will open up opportunities to obtain top 100 degrees in India itself. British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron said that the new campus will become a centre of world-class education. This will give more British students the opportunity to live and study in India. This collaboration will promote educational excellence and further strengthen the relationship between our two countries. On the other hand, British Council Director, Alison Barrett MBE said that the decision of the University of Southampton to set up a campus in India is a proof of the flourishing education partnership between India and the UK.

Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that this reflects our vision of raising our education standards to the global level and realizing the education pillar of India-UK cooperation.
