India Budget 2025 Live: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on February 1. With this, she will set a record of presenting the 8th consecutive budget. With this, Sitharaman will reach close to the records of 10 budgets presented by former PM Morarji Desai in different time periods.
Sitharaman became India’s first full -time female finance minister in 2019. In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formed the government for the second consecutive time at the Center. Since then Sitharaman has presented seven budgets. The first general budget of independent India was presented by the country’s first Finance Minister RK Shanmukham Chetty on 26 November 1947. Former PM Morarji Desai has presented a total of 10 budgets as Finance Minister during the tenure of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and later Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
According to the news agency PTI, in the budget 2025 it is expected that measures will be taken to support the weakened economic growth and to provide relief to the middle class struggling with inflation and stable increment. Earlier on Friday, the budget session of Parliament started with the address of President Draupadi Murmu. The budget session will run in two phases from 31 January to 4 April. The first phase will end on 13 February and the second session will start from 10 March.
Budget minute to minute schedule
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will leave her residence for North Block at 8.30 am.
- After this, she will leave for Rashtrapati Bhavan with the budget team. Here he will hand over a copy of the budget to President Draupadi Murmu. She will return to the ministry after approving the budget from the President. A photo shoot will be done at Gate No. 2 of North Block at 9 am.
- After this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary will enter Parliament at 10 am with the budget. There will be a photo shoot here.
- Under the chairmanship of PM Modi, the Union Cabinet will meet in the Parliament House complex around 10.15 am to 10.40 am this morning, in which the budget will be approved by the cabinet.
- After the approval of the cabinet, the Finance Minister will present the budget in the Lok Sabha at 11 am.
- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address a press conference at around 3 pm after presenting the budget today. In this, Minister of State for Finance, Finance Secretary, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India will be present.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday introduced the economic review of FY 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha. With the assessment of the performance of the economy in the current financial year, it expresses challenges to the country. The Economic Survey is an annual document, which the government presents to review the situation of the economy before the Union Budget. It also provides a blueprint for reforms and development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the budget session of Parliament will create a new faith in the countrymen and give them new energy. He also prayed that in view of the upcoming general budget, mother Lakshmi had special blessings on every poor and middle class of the country. PM Modi said, this is the first full budget of my third term. I can say with confidence that by the time there will be 100 years of independence in 2047, the resolution of India has taken the resolution of India, this budget session and this budget will create a new faith in it and give new energy.
