Tax on the middle class: There has been a mixed response to the record 7th budget of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. People have liked many announcements made in the budget and they are praising these changes. On the other hand, a large section is raising many questions about this budget. They say that in the budget, the middle class has to pay many other taxes along with income tax. People have also expressed their displeasure about the budget through social media.
Tax has to be paid even for basic needs
On social media platform X, people are raising questions that we have to pay tax even for education, medical care, electricity, clean water and clean air. A user posted a video and said that the working man is breaking his back. After paying income tax, when he goes to the market and buys any goods, he has to pay GST. If he goes to invest with the money left after spending, the government takes short term and long term capital gain tax on the profit he makes. Now he will not even get indexation benefits on selling the property bought with hard work. After all, why are so many types of taxes being imposed on the salaried class.
Middle class is paying tax on education and treatment too
Another user wrote that crores of children in the country are deprived of education. There is a shortage of government schools. Also, the level of education in government schools built with tax money is also pathetic. Out of compulsion, we have to send children to private schools. There also we pay expensive fees to educate the children. If treatment is to be done, there is a shortage of good government hospitals. Treatment in private hospitals is not only expensive but we also have to pay tax on it.
The government is unable to provide clean air, water and electricity
A post claims that the government has failed to provide even basic facilities like electricity and roads. Due to lack of 24-hour electricity in the country, people are forced to install inverters and solar panels. We are charged tax even for purchasing all these. Even today, clean drinking water has not been arranged everywhere in the country. Because of this, ROs have to be installed in homes. The air of many cities has also been badly affected due to pollution. Because of this, people are forced to install air purifiers. But, the government considers them luxury items, so tax is charged on all these things.
