Lakhs of candidates are eagerly waiting for the NET (National Eligibility Test) examination to be held in the December session of UGC. National Testing Agency (NTA) is soon going to issue an official notification regarding the date of University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET December 2024) exam. In this, the process of online registration will start first. It will be clear from the official information that by when can the registration be done? From what date will the exam start and when will it end? When will the correction in the application form take place? Information about when and how the admit card will be available will also be given. Recently, UGC Commission has also added Ayurveda Biology as a subject in the NET examination to be held in December, the syllabus of which can be seen on ugcnetonline.in.

This time so many candidates can register
For information, let us tell you that the last UGC NET exam held in June was held from 21st August to 30th August and 2-5th September 2024, in which 11,21,225 candidates had registered. However, only 6,84,224 candidates appeared in the examination. Among the candidates who registered, there were 6,35,588 women, 4,85,578 men and 59 third gender candidates. This time too, the number of candidates who have registered is being estimated to be between 10 to 12 lakh.

UGC Chairman Jagdish Kumar, while recently giving information on his Can do. NET score will determine the possibility of getting admission into PhD with or without JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) funding and also the eligibility of the candidate for the post of Assistant Professor.

UGC created three categories
UGC is encouraging all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to include NET exam scores in their PhD admission processes. According to the official notification of UGC, NET candidates will be considered eligible in three categories. These categories are effective from June 2024.
- Category-1: Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) + Admission to PhD + Appointment as Assistant Professor
- Category-2: Appointment of Assistant Professor + Admission in PhD
- Category-3: Just to take admission in PhD
