Sadhana Shivdasani’s birth anniversary: In the 80’s and 90’s, when girls used to go to beauty parlors, they used to demand ‘Sadhana hair cutting’. During that time, girls started wearing scarves around their neck. This whole trend came because of actress Sadhana Shivdasini. She was such an actress who gained a lot of popularity in a short time. Her popularity was immense during that time but later something happened to her due to which her life got entangled in that.
Sadhna Shivdasini was the aunt of actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Her mother Babita was Sadhna’s cousin but a misunderstanding ruined their relationship. Let us tell you some interesting things related to Sadhna Shivdasini.
Who was Sadhana Shivdasini?
Born on 2 September 1941 in Karachi (now in Pakistan) in British India, Anjali Shivdasini belonged to a Sindhi Hindu family. Anjali’s father was a fan of Bengali actress Sadhana Bose, so when his daughter was 5 years old, he named her Sadhana Shivdasini.
Her father’s elder brother’s daughter is Babita who is the mother of Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. After Partition, Sadhana’s father came to Mumbai with the family. Sadhana graduated from Jai Hind College and then worked as a typist in a company.
One day, when Sadhana went to work, her friend told her that Raj Kapoor’s film Shree 420 was being shot, so she went to watch it with her friend. There was a shortage of some background dancers, so the makers asked the girls, among whom Sadhana was also there, and Sadhana said yes. Sadhana got 1 rupee as fee for that dance. From here, Sadhana made up her mind to enter the film world and then her career started.

During these films, Sadhana suffered from a disease called thyroid for which she went to America for treatment.
After taking a break of a few years, Sadhana came back and during that time her neck had become swollen so she shot films wearing a scarf around her neck. That scarf had become a trend among girls in that era. Sadhana did some films till 1975 but later she started having health issues and slowly Sadhana distanced herself from films. Sadhana produced Dimple Kapadia’s film Pati Parmeshwar which was released in 1989.
Was Sadhna Shivdasini cursed?
Sadhana married director Ram Krishna Nayyar in 1966 but her husband died in 1995. The couple had no children and the reason behind this is said to be a curse of their cousin Babita. Late actress and anchor Tabassum had told in one of her videos that when Babita and Randhir Kapoor were dating each other, Raj Kapoor called Sadhana to meet him.
Raj Kapoor told Sadhana that she is Babita’s elder sister so she should convince her. Babita cannot become the daughter-in-law of the Kapoor family because if she marries Randhir, she will have to give up her film career. Sadhana knew that Babita has many big dreams so she tried to convince Raj Kapoor but he did not agree. Later when Babita came to know about these things, she went to ask Sadhana why she did not convince Raj Kapoor.
On this, Sadhna explained to her by calling her son but Babita misunderstood Sadhna and told her not to call her son lest she would have no one to call her mother. This thing hurt Sadhna deeply and later the same thing happened that Sadhna could not become a mother.
