India Squad For Champions Trophy 2025: The Indian cricket team has started preparing for the Champions Trophy after the 1-3 defeat at the hands of Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Before that, Team India also has to play T20 and ODI series against England. The questions are big, the mission of the Champions Trophy is also important but now a new update has come out regarding which players will get a place in Team India. According to sources, three senior players including Mohammed Shami may be dropped from the Champions Trophy squad.
Three senior players out!
On one side, there are Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who despite their poor form, seem almost certain to get a place in Team India. According to news agency PTI, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul may probably be kept out of the Champions Trophy squad. Talking about Rahul, he was included in the team as the first choice wicketkeeper in the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup, but Rishabh Pant is being seen as the number-1 wicketkeeper for the Champions Trophy. Rahul’s selection is possible as a back-up wicketkeeper, but head coach Gautam Gambhir may also give preference to Sanju Samson as a back-up wicketkeeper.
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja’s place also seems to be in danger, he is getting direct competition from Akshar Patel. According to PTI report, the selectors believe that Axar Patel has been more effective in white ball cricket than Jadeja. As far as the selection of Mohammed Shami is concerned, his fitness is still under doubt. Shami recently bowled well for Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but the selectors are still not sure about his fitness.
