Tata Group: Tata Group has started taking the country forward in the chip making sector with the Bhoomi Pujan of its Semiconductor Plant in Assam. Tata Electronics will invest Rs 27 thousand crore on this plant. With its help, 27 thousand jobs will also be created. This plant will become operational in 2025. Tata Group said on Saturday that 1000 people from Assam are currently working here. In future, the company will also try to bring other companies involved in the semiconductor ecosystem here.
N Chandrasekaran performed the Bhoomi Pujan of the plant
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said after the Bhoomi Pujan program that we will create 15 thousand direct and 12 thousand indirect jobs through this plant. Apart from this, our suppliers will also gradually come here. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was present at the program, has called it a golden moment for the people of the state. The people of Assam will always be grateful to the Tata Group. He assured that the Tata Group will not be allowed to face any problem in building a plant here.
Assam Chief Minister said- our dream has come true
Tata Group is going to build this plant in Jagiroad of Morigaon district. The Chief Minister of Assam said that the dream of bringing this plant to Assam has been fulfilled due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the chips made in this plant will be used in almost every company including electric vehicles.
Approval was received from the Union Cabinet in February, 2024
This semiconductor plant was approved by the Union Cabinet in February 2024. Construction of the plant has started within just 5 months. Most of the technology for making chips here will be from India. This plant will take the country forward in the semiconductor sector. With the construction of this plant in Assam, talent for this sector will be created from the NITs present in the northeastern states. Tata Electronics’ second plant is being built in Dholera, Gujarat. It will start functioning from December 2026.
