Actually, Africa’s star spinner Tabrez Shamsi talked about Surya’s catch through social media. Shamsi shared a video and wrote, “If they had used this method to check the catch in the World Cup final, then it would probably have been given not out.”
In the video shared by Shamsi, some people are seen playing a local cricket match. After a catch is taken on the boundary line in the match, it is measured in different ways.
Shamsi presented clarification
As soon as Shamsi’s post went viral, people started trolling him, after which the African star clarified that it was just a joke. He clarified, “If some people don’t understand that this is a joke and no one is crying. Let me explain it to you like a 4-year-old child. This is a joke.”

Surya’s catch turned the match
In the final played in Barbados, South Africa needed 16 runs to win in the last over. The responsibility of the last over was given to Hardik Pandya. Left-handed David Miller was present at the crease. Miller swung his bat hard on the first full-toss ball of the over. The ball was going out of the boundary towards long off when Surya ran and stopped the ball from crossing the boundary. Surya took the catch and threw the ball from outside to inside and then ran again and caught the catch. After Miller was out, the task became very easy for Hardik and he gave Team India the victory.
