Suryakumar Yadav Ruled Out of Duleep Trophy 2024: India’s T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the first phase of the Duleep Trophy 2024-2025. He suffered a hand injury while playing for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu tournament last week. At present, he has been advised rest and is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to undergo fitness process.
Let us remind you that Suryakumar could not bat in the second innings for TNCA XI last week. He suffered a hand injury on the third day of the match and after that he did not even come to field. At that time, the Mumbai team management had admitted that Surya was not sent to field and bat to prevent him from getting more seriously injured.
Hope to return to test team
Suryakumar Yadav had recently expressed hope of returning to the Test team. He has not played any first-class match in the last one year and with the intention of returning to the Test team, he decided to participate in the Buchi Babu tournament. Suryakumar’s injury has come at a time when the Indian team has to play 10 Test matches within the next 5 months. All these matches will be important because winning them can ensure India’s place in the World Test Championship final.
Apart from Surya, two fast bowlers in the form of Mohammad Siraj and Umran Malik have also been ruled out of the Duleep Trophy due to illness. Ravindra Jadeja will also not be a part of this upcoming tournament, on which BCCI has not given any clarity. Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav will be seen playing in place of Siraj and Malik.
