Sunil Gavaskar On Indian Team Approach: The Indian cricket team performed brilliantly and won the second test played against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Team India had adopted an aggressive attitude, many of its stalwarts were giving different names. Former England captain Michael Vaughan called it ‘baseball’. The name ‘baseball’ is used by English cricket. Now Team India’s former veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar talked about this.
Through his column written in Sports Star, Gavaskar said that the entire credit for Team India’s approach goes to captain Rohit Sharma.
Gavaskar wrote that sadly, the batting was fun and fresh, but the names given to the approaches were the same old ones. Apart from this, Gavaskar said that some people are also calling this Gautam Gambhir as ‘Gamball’. We saw how England changed the way they batted under the supervision of coach Brendon McCullum and coach Ben Stokes. Rohit Sharma has also been batting like this for the last few years and is encouraging the team to do the same.
Apart from this, Gavaskar said that it is not right to give credit to Gautam Gambhir for the aggressive approach of Team India. He has not been coaching for a long time and he himself has never batted like this. The former Indian legend said that full credit for this should go to Rohit Sharma. Apart from this, Gavaskar advised to call this approach of Team India as ‘Gohit’ by the first name of Rohit Sharma.
