Stock Market Closing On 13 September 2024: The last trading session of the week has been very good for the Indian stock market. Sensex-Nifty may have fallen, but two new records were made in the market in today’s session. Due to buying in mid-cap stocks, the midcap index of Nifty crossed the 60,000 mark for the first time and reached an all-time high of 60189.35. A great rise was also seen in small-cap stocks. Due to buying in mid-cap and small-cap stocks, the market cap of stocks listed on BSE reached a historic high of Rs 469 lakh crore for the first time. At the end of trading, the BSE Sensex closed with a decline of 72 points at 82,890 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed with a decline of 32 points at 25,356 points.
Sectorol Update
In today’s trade, buying was seen in the stocks of banking, IT, consumer durables, auto, media, real estate, metals and pharma sectors. While there was profit booking in the stocks of FMCG, energy, healthcare and oil and gas sectors. There was heavy buying in mid-cap and small-cap stocks in today’s session. Nifty’s midcap 100 reached an all-time high and closed at 60034. Nifty’s small cap index also closed with a gain of 151 points.
Market cap at all-time high
Due to the rise in banking IT stocks including mid-cap and small-cap stocks, there has been a huge jump in the wealth of investors. The market cap of the stocks listed on BSE has closed at Rs 468.80 lakh crore, whereas in the previous session it had closed at Rs 467.36 lakh crore. In today’s session, there has been an increase of Rs 1.44 lakh crore in the wealth of investors.
Rising and falling stocks
In today’s trade, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 11 closed with gains while 19 closed with losses. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 20 closed with gains and 30 closed with losses. Bajaj Finance closed with a gain of 2.31 percent, Bajaj Finserv 2.17 percent, Axis Bank 1.19 percent, IndusInd Bank 1.18 percent, Tata Steel 1.09 percent, Tech Mahindra 0.80 percent, Tata Motors 0.61 percent. Among the falling stocks, Adani Ports closed with a loss of 1.37 percent, ITC 1.01 percent, Bharti Airtel 0.88 percent, NTPC 0.78 percent.
