Sri Lanka vs New Zealand 2nd Test: A two-match Test series is being played between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The first test match was won by Sri Lanka. Now the second test of this series has started from 26th September. Today, on the third day, Sri Lanka managed to pull off a big upset against visiting New Zealand. Prabhat Jayasuriya defeated New Zealand with his bowling. The entire New Zealand team could not even score 100 runs in the first innings and were all out.
New Zealand trapped in Sri Lanka’s trap
In the first innings of the second match, Sri Lanka batted for 163.4 overs. The Sri Lankan team declared the innings after scoring 602 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 163.4 overs. While the New Zealand bowlers wreaked havoc in the first innings, the Sri Lankan bowlers attacked the New Zealand batsmen during batting. No New Zealand batsman could score even 30 runs against the Sri Lankan bowlers. After which, in the first innings, New Zealand team was reduced to only 88 runs in 39.5 overs. After this, Sri Lanka gave follow-on to the Kiwi team and invited them to bat in the second innings.

Three Sri Lankan batsmen scored centuries in the first innings
Dinesh Chandimal scored 116 runs in 208 balls at a strike rate of 55.77, which included 15 fours. Kamindu Mendis scored unbeaten 182 runs in 250 balls at a strike rate of 72.80, which included 16 fours and 4 sixes. Kusal Mendis scored unbeaten 106 runs in 149 balls at a strike rate of 71.14, which included 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Kiwi team trapped in Prabhat Jayasuriya’s trap
Sri Lanka’s left arm spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya bowled brilliantly. He did not give New Zealand’s batsmen a chance to stay on the pitch. Jayasuriya took 6 wickets for 42 runs in 18 overs with an economy of 2.33. It also includes 6 maiden overs.
