SL vs NZ Glenn Phillips Defended 8 Runs: A two-match T20 series was played between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Whose last match was played on 10 November at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla. Sri Lanka was going to win the series by winning the second T20 match, but New Zealand won this match and leveled the series 1-1. Sri Lanka could not chase a small target like 109 runs. Glenn Phillips made a big contribution in defending this small total for New Zealand. He did not allow Sri Lanka to score even 8 runs in the last over. Phillips also took three wickets for Sri Lanka in the last over.

Sri Lanka needed 8 runs in the last over to win. New Zealand handed the ball to Phillips. Single came on the first ball. On the second ball, Nissanka played a big shot with the intention of winning, but was caught out at long on. After this, Pathirana also got stumped on the third ball. Now Sri Lanka needed 6 runs from two balls. Mahish Tikshana tried to hit a big shot on the fourth ball, but only the edge of the ball hit and wicketkeeper Mitchell took the catch, due to which New Zealand won the match by 5 runs.
Second T20 match was full of action
After winning the first match, Sri Lanka entered the second match with confidence and decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Proving this decision right, Nuwan Thushara clean bowled New Zealand’s opener Tim Robinson with a yorker on the very first ball of the match.
New Zealand’s innings was in trouble and they lost two wickets for 33 runs in the powerplay itself. In the middle overs, Sri Lanka’s star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga increased the pressure on the Kiwi team, due to which New Zealand reached the score of 52-6 runs in 10.3 overs. However, after this Mitchell Santner and Josh Clarkson added important 32 runs for the seventh wicket. But in the last overs, the tight bowling of Mathisha Pathirana did not allow New Zealand to score big and they all out the Kiwi team for just 108 runs.
Sri Lanka, which set a target of 109 runs, did not have a good start and soon Kusal Mendis returned to the pavilion. After this, New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson created history by taking his first hat-trick in T20 International. He dismissed Kusal Perera on the last ball of the sixth over and then in the eighth over, he dismissed Kamindu Mendis and Charit Asalanka on two consecutive balls. Due to this the Sri Lankan team was struggling at the score of 82-7.
