Share Market Opening 9 September: Amid the negative signals from the global markets, the domestic market also started the week poorly on Monday. The BSE Sensex index fell below the 81 thousand points mark as soon as the trading opened. IT stocks are under pressure today.
At 9:15 am, the Sensex opened with a loss of about 200 points and fell below the level of 81 thousand points. Nifty started with a loss of about 50 points. At 9:20 am, the Sensex had fallen by about 195 points and was trading at 80,988 points. At the same time, the NSE Nifty 50 index was near 24,785 points with a loss of about 65 points.
The market fell in the pre-open session itself
The market was showing signs of losses in the pre-open session itself. In the pre-open session, the Sensex had fallen by more than 200 points and had come below 81 thousand points, while the Nifty had slipped by about 30 points and had come below 24,825 points. Before the market opened in the morning, the Nifty futures in GIFT City were trading near 24,840 points, down by about 86 points. The Nifty VIX index, which indicates volatility, was up by more than 7 percent.
There was a big drop on Friday too
Earlier on the last day of last week, on Friday, the Sensex fell by a huge 1,017.23 points (1.24%) to close at 81,183.93 points and the Nifty50 lost 292.95 points (1.17%) to close at 24,852.15 points. During the entire week, the Sensex fell by 1,181.84 points (1.43%) and the Nifty fell by 383.75 points (1.52%).
Asian markets were in bad shape today
On Friday, after the US employment and other economic data came out, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 1 percent, S&P 500 by about 1.75 percent and NASDAQ by more than 2.5 percent on Wall Street. After that, huge losses are being seen in the Asian markets today. Japan’s Nikkei index is down by more than 3 percent. The Topix index is down by 2.67 percent. Korea’s Kospi is almost flat, while China’s Shanghai Composite is down by 0.58 percent and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is down by 1.15 percent.
