Share Market Opening 19 July: The domestic market started its trading on a poor note on Friday, the last day of the week, amid global pressure. Both Sensex and Nifty went into the red as soon as the trading opened in the morning.
The Sensex opened at 9:15 am with a loss of more than 100 points. At 9:20 am, the Sensex was down by about 165 points and was trading near 81,180 points. At the same time, the NSE Nifty50 had fallen by about 65 points and was below 24,740 points.
There was a slight increase in the pre-open
The BSE Sensex was up marginally by 43 points in the pre-open session and was above 81,350 points. Nifty was also trading slightly below 24,800 points with a slight gain. Before the market opened, the Nifty future in GIFT City was trading near 24,840 points with a gain of about 30 points. The trend of GIFT Nifty was indicating that the market may remain sluggish today.
The market made a new record on Thursday
Earlier on Thursday, the domestic market had set a new record. During the day’s trading, the Sensex reached 81,587.76 points, which is its new all-time high level. Similarly, the NSE’s Nifty50 index managed to create a new historical high of 24,854.80 points in yesterday’s trading.
After the end of Thursday’s trading, the Sensex closed at 81,343.46 points with a gain of 626.91 points (0.78%). At the same time, the Nifty50 index strengthened by 187.85 points (0.76%) to close at 24,800.85 points.
Global stock markets under pressure
On Thursday, the US markets closed with losses. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down by 1.29 percent. Similarly, the S&P500 fell by 0.78 percent and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell by 0.70 percent. Asian markets are also down today. Japan’s Nikkei is down by 0.16 percent and the Topix is down by 0.28 percent. South Korea’s Kospi is down by 0.93 percent and Kosdaq is down by 0.29 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is showing signs of starting with a decline.
Sensex shares in early trade
Most of the big stocks have fallen in early trade. More than 20 stocks on Sensex were in loss in the morning session. UltraTech Cement was the biggest loser by 2%. Tata Steel was down by 1.5%, Tech Mahindra by 1.5%, JSW Steel by 1.30%, Power Grid Corporation by 1%. On the other hand, the market is getting some support from IT stocks. Infosys was in profit of about 2.5% in the morning. Asian Paints was also up by about 1.5%.
