Shardiya Navratri 2024 Day 5 Maa Skandmata Puja: Shardiya Navratri started from 3 October 2024. Within no time, this nine-day festival of faith and devotion to Maa Durga has reached its fifth day. Today, 6th October, is the fifth day of Navratri, in which Mother Skanda Mata is worshipped.
Worship of Goddess Skandamata on the fifth day of Navratri
The presiding deity of the fifth day of Navratri is Mother Skandmata, because she is the mother of ‘Skanda’ or ‘Kartikeya’. In his idol, Lord Skanda (Kartikeya) is sitting in his lap. On this day the mind of the yogi is situated in the pure chakra. When situated in this Chakra, one gets freedom from all the worldly bondages and can concentrate completely on Mother Skandmata and remains immersed in worship continuously.
Skanda or Kartikeya or Kumar are also known by many names. His vehicle is peacock. When the battle of Devasura took place, he was the commander of the gods. Skanda Mata has a lotus flower in her right lower arm. He is holding Vara Mudra in his left hand. She is of auspicious character.
The prayer mantra of Skandmata is (Maa Skandmata Mantra)
Throne nityam padmashritakatdvaya.
