Stock Market Closing On 14 August 2024: After two days of decline and heavy fluctuations, the Indian stock market closed with gains on Wednesday. This rise in the market was seen due to buying in IT stocks. Stocks of other sectors disappointed the investors. Midcap and smallcap stocks also saw a decline. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed with a jump of 150 points at 79,106 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed with a marginal rise of 4.75 points at 24,143 points.
Rising and falling stocks
Out of 30 shares of Sensex, 15 closed with gains and 15 closed with losses. Out of 50 shares of Nifty, 23 stocks closed with gains and 27 closed with losses. Among the gainers, TCS closed with a gain of 2.30%, HCL Tech 2.09%, Tech Mahindra 1.41%, Infosys 1.28%, Mahindra & Mahindra 1.02%, Bharti Airtel 0.85%, Tata Motors 0.80%, SBI 0.78%, ITC 0.56%, Titan 0.53%, NTPC 0.29%, HDFC Bank 0.27%. While UltraTech Cement closed with a decline of 2.46 per cent, JSW Steel 1.85 per cent, Tata Steel 1.81 per cent, Adani Ports 1.48 per cent, Power Grid 0.97 per cent and Bajaj Finserv 0.82 per cent.
Decline in market cap
In today’s trade, despite the rise in Sensex-Nifty, the market cap has declined due to the fall in other sectors and mid-cap small-cap. The market cap of the stocks listed on BSE has closed at Rs 444.58 lakh crore with a fall of Rs 72,000 crore, which was Rs 445.30 lakh crore in the previous session.
