Stock Market Closing On 10 October 2024: The Indian stock market closed with a rise in Thursday’s trading session. This rise has been due to buying in banking and energy shares. However, the fall in IT, Pharma and FMCG shares brought the market down from the upper level. Midcap stocks have also disappointed. At the end of today’s trading, BSE Sensex closed at 81,611 points with a jump of 144 points. Whereas Nifty of National Stock Exchange closed at 24,998 points.
Rising and falling shares
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 21 stocks closed with gains and 9 closed with losses. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 23 closed with gains and 27 closed with losses. Among the rising stocks, Kotak Mahindra Bank 3.90 per cent, JSW Steel 1.82 per cent, HDFC Bank 1.63 per cent, Power Grid 1.58 per cent, IndusInd Bank 1.43 per cent, Maruti 1.34 per cent, NTPC 1.33 per cent, Axis Bank 1.20 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra 1.06 per cent, UltraTech Cement closed with a rise of 0.71 percent. While Tech Mahindra closed down by 2.82 per cent, Sun Pharma by 1.90 per cent, Infosys by 1.68 per cent, Titan by 1 per cent, Tata Motors by 0.97 per cent and TCS by 0.64 per cent.
Sectorol Update
In today’s trading, banking, auto, metals, energy, infra shares closed with a rise. While IT, Pharma, FMCG, Real Estate, Media, Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Oil & Gas stocks closed down. Due to the decline in midcap stocks, Nifty’s midcap index closed with a decline of 166 points, while Nifty’s smallcap index closed with a slight gain. In today’s trading, the market cap flat closed at Rs 462.22 lakh crore.
Mixed trading in Tata Group shares
After the demise of Ratan Tata, there was a lot of activity in the shares of Tata Group in the stock market today. Of the 24 listed companies, 16 closed with gains while 8 closed with losses. The stocks of Tata Investment, Tata Chemicals, Tata Coffee, Tata Metallics, Tata Teleservices have closed with a rise. Whereas shares like Voltas, Trent, Titan declined.
